The Children’s Care Center in Lechaina, or KEPEP Lechaina, near the eponymous town, in the Prefecture of Ilia, was created by law in 1987. After 1989 it began to offer institutionalised care for children with disabilities aged 6-18. In 2011, it was renamed Chronic Illness Clinic of Lechaina, but in 2013 it reverted to its original name, after a law merging it with other children’s care institutions in the region. Today, it is a unit of the Social Welfare Center of the Region of Western Greece.
