Letter from the United Nations Working Group on discrimination against women and girls and the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, addressed to the Prime Minister of Greece, May 17, 2021. The letter is critical of the bill, which became Law 4800/2021, and recommended “review and reconsideration of those provisions in the Bill taking into account Greece’s international human rights obligations”. It also requested that its contents “be shared with the Parliament at the earliest”. The government did not disclose the letter to Parliament, and when confronted with it by the opposition, the Minister of Justice denied knowledge of it.
